Meryl Cook

Meryl Cook is a local rug hooker, former homeopath and author of two books - One Loop at a Time, a story of rug hooking, healing and creativity  and One Loop at a Time, The Creativity Workbook, who is exploring the use of contemporary rug hooking as a healing art. She began hooking in 2009.  Meryl has been teaching her Hook a Healing Mat workshops at NSDCC since Fall 2016.

Meryl used her diagnosis of breast cancer in 2015 as an opportunity to reinvent herself. During her recovery, she began writing and designing a line of mats as a way to hold space for herself and to figure out how to move her life forward.  She developed a unique design process, based on writing healing phrases on the linen around the mat, choosing colours based on Chakra Colour theory and abstract design by following the healing energy.
