Abi Hodson

Abi Hodson is an artist and designer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The work Abi does centres around celebrating bodies, community creation, and engaging the body’s relationship with the land. As a graduate of Ryerson University’s Fashion Design program, Abi’s jewelry creations are deeply influenced by textiles principles and techniques.

28. Felt-Based Jewellery

This workshop offers an introduction to felting and machine-free jewellery making. You will learn how to wet felt and dry felt as well as basic machine-free jewellery techniques. You will finish this class with your very own felted piece of jewellery. One-hour lunch break.

29. Tapestry-Woven Jewellery

This workshop offers an introduction to tapestry weaving techniques and machine-free jewellery making. You will learn how to tapestry weave with both yarns and wire, as well as basic machine-free jewellery techniques. You will finish this class with your very own woven piece of jewellery. One-hour lunch break.

30. Felted Coin Purse/ Wallet

This workshop offers an introduction to wet felting and involves some basic hand sewing techniques. In two classes, you will make felted material and use it to sew your own felted coin purse/wallet. One-hour lunch break.

31. Playful Patching

Do you have a pile of torn garments just waiting for you to get around to mend them? Come make mending fun with this workshop on visible mending and playful patching. Bring your own piece of clothing to mend (maybe bring a few options if you have them) and we will have the materials. Walk away with that garment you finally got around to mending looking even more beautiful than before!
